IT'LL BE a night of old-school rock'n'roll at CC's Hotel on September 3 when Angry Anderson and the Junkyard Dogs come out to play.
The bad boy vocalist for Rose Tattoo will perform with local supporting bands Black Label and 46 Clicks at a venue he used to perform at, although he said he can't remember much of his performances there.
``I have very little memories of anything in those days and the old saying is if you remember the '60s you weren't there. Well, it's pretty much the '70s as well and a pretty sizable chunk of the '80s, too.
``The days that we all made our names and reputations were the great days of pub rock and they're gone when touring was your life and you were in a pub every night of the week and we used to think it was lucky to have one or two nights off.
``They tend to become a blur after a while.''
He said the band already knew they were going to have a good time on the night but he hoped plenty of locals would turn out.
``What we've found in recent times is there's enough people out there who like it loud and proud and like it used to be,'' Anderson said.
``They're not gonna go for some namby-pamby limp-wristed form of music.''
Anderson said he was looking forward to free beer on the night but for him, rock was really about the amazing moments on stage.
``Rock'n'roll's not about earning a lot of money, but it's the same thing that keeps us doing it year after year after year for most of our lives. I've been singing rock'n'roll now since my teens.
``It's about those magical moments on stage and there's no other way to describe them.
``The success thing comes and goes but it's not why you do it, it's just another night of rock and roll, as romantic as that sounds it's the truth.''
After joking that the up-and-coming bands in the area should `just get a real job', he said the best advice he could give them was to stay driven.
